Nacho Figueras broke his hip this weekend while playing polo at Cowdray Park Polo Club in England, ruling him out of playing at this week's highly anticipated Gaucho Polo tournament held annually at the o2 Arena in London.
Nacho was due to captain the Argentine team at this week's Gaucho Polo tournament, as he has done for the last two years. His injury will see him unable to play now for probably the rest of the English season as he will be out for at least six to eight weeks while he recovers from his injury. Andrea Vianini has been announced as Nacho's replacement at Gaucho Polo tournament this Tuesday 21st May 2013.

September saw a record number of spectators turning out on the sands of Watergate Bay to watch a scintillating exhibition of polo from some of England’s top players and British Olympic Eventing star Mary King.
Around 4,000 spectators attended the sixth edition of the Veuve Clicquot Polo on the Beach tournament on 11 September 2012, with team Joules battling it out to win against reigning champions, First Great Western.

Polo was introduced in the Summer Olympics at the 1900 Games and was played in another four Olympics after that before being sadly removed from the official programme after the 1936 Summer Olympics.
In the last Olympic Polo Final in 1936 in Berlin, Germany, Argentina won Gold against Great Britain with an impressive match score of 11-0 to Argentina, and resulting in Great Britain taking Silver and Mexico taking the Bronze Medal. The Gold medalists from the winning Argentine team were: Manuel Andrada, Roberto Cavanagh, Luis Duggan and Andrés Gazzotti. The Silver medalists from the Great Britian team were: David Dawnay, Bryan Fowler, Humphrey Patrick Guinness and William Hinde. The Bronze medalists from the Mexico team were: Juan Gracia, Julio Mueller, Antonio Nava and Alberto Ramos. (Reserve players were not listed as medalists in the International Olympic Committee medal database).
